Al Haverkamp acts as outside general counsel for a number of developers, general contractors, and subcontractors, overseeing their litigation matters, advising them on insurance coverage and risk management, and assisting them with construction contract drafting. Al has over 30 years of experience representing commercial and residential developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in construction disputes involving breach of contract, change orders, indemnity, delay and disruption, and insurance coverage (OCIPs, CCIPs, CGL, and Builder’s Risk policies). Significant Litigation Results and Engagements:• $3.5 million recovery for Aviara Four Seasons Resort in construction dispute involving collapsing pedestrian bridges and damaged exterior walkways.• Recovered $400,000 for a general contractor in a construction payment dispute with the owner concerning the construction of a large computer chip manufacturing plant.• Successfully resolved multiple lawsuits as counsel for a mechanical contractor relating to a natural gas explosion at high rise hotel which injured 19 workers and caused $17 million in property damage.• Jury verdict and recovery of all attorney fees for the general contractor against subcontractors involving the collapse of a roadway entrance to shopping mall.
